Diluting The Gene Pool is a highly eclectic album featuring music and lyrics that change mood and intensity from song to song. The album infuses diverse influences with droning, foreboding melodies, dark lyrics, multifaceted drum work, distorted and acoustic guitars, blended with rock and punk overtones. Resulting in an avant-garde LP, that is somewhat reminiscent of early 70s heavy rock, combined with a shadowy, dense, metal sound.
From the ritual sacrifice album cover, to the comical vulgarity of the song Strap On, to the epic manifestation of the opening track A Priori, Diluting The Gene Pool is a diverse CD that fans of heavy music should add to their collection.
Recorded and mastered at Insane Sounds Studio in South Florida, co-producer and engineer Marc Karmatz nailed the bands signature sound with industry "radio-ready" sound quality. Osiris Risings twisted depiction of life is painted perfectly on their debut CD. The album regrettably became a tribute to their lead guitar player, who died just 5 months after its release in 2005, at the age of 23.

This truly does justice to their live shows

DTGP is a great CD, I can listen to Saved By You or Deva to go to sleep at night. While Strap On and A Priori get me hyped at night ready to get out and do something. I've seen Osiris Rising live and this album truly does their music justice. The Sound of Guitar and Bass working together with the drums just make you want to move. While the singers voice is haunting at times and angry and grasping at others. All around a great CD!

If you're looking for a band that has taken charge and finally made a new sound for themselves, instead of piggybacking on tried- and tired methods, you've found it. Diluting the Gene Pool is an eclectic album of some of Osiris Rising's best songs, and nothing is lost in the transfer from stage to studio. For those who have seen and loved their live performances-- and those who wish they could!-- evey bit of power and raw energy is transfer masterfully here. Michael Ibarra voice, with it's haunting harmononies and grindingly soulful sound, commands every song's emotive capabilities here, while Drummer Brian "Animal" Vorisek pounds out rhythm that your kids will still be feeling in 30 years. Joseph Arthur's guitar drives the songs on with his gritty sound, and Paul "Papa Middy" Arthur slams it home with his heavy fueled bass.
This album doesn't leave you hanging-- it promises to take you from the bedside of a transexual (Strap On), to the most abyssmal places in your soul (Try Nothing But Sorrow); And you'll like it too.
