Seven songs recorded in my living room using my voice and nine instruments. Some of the songs feature mandolin, melodica, lap steel guitar, or cutting-edge digital imitations of classic analog synthesizers. Most of them aren't that complicated.
I've lived in Minnesota, New Jersey, Massachusetts (twice), and now somewhere around San Jose. Many of my songs are about geography, one way or another. Some things can't be helped.
Here's a paragraph from my official bio:
"Borrowing from influences such as Nick Drake, Peter Mulvey, and the Jayhawks, Erik's music is sparse and introspective, deceptively simple on the surface but with a haunting depth that lingers with the listener. His favorite songs are snapshots that suggest but don't fully explain a story, with characters whose lives extend beyond the beginning and end of the song itself. He has invited comparisons to artists as diverse as Jeff Tweedy, Michael Hedges, and Elliott Smith."
I haven't really INVITED those comparisons. Other people just thought I sounded like those people. Mostly I sound like me, though. Go ahead, listen to the clips, decide for yourself.

This one draws you in - like a painting that you can't look away from. The songs are beautifully uncomplicated, the lyrics are intelligent and the instrumentation gives you the whole story in your head, like a good movie.
