Album Notes

Dave "DK" Kolars & Pete Norman are The Old Time Country & Blues Revue. Together they have over 70 years of playing experience.

DK started playing in the 60's (first song learned was "Wipe Out"!), and has played both solo and in various bands since then. DK was in several bluegrass bands over the years, and spent many nights on stage with Vassar Clements back in the 70's when Vassar toured the Northern IL/Southern WI area. DK credits many sources for his style: Miss. John Hurt, Jim Kweskin, John Fahey, Clarence White, Doc Watson, Moore & Napier, Carter Stanley, Carl Martin, Kansas Joe McCoy, and about 200 more that would take way too long to write out!

Pete Norman has played in the N. IL area since the 70's as both a solo and in several bands. Pete is the songwriter of the group, and has had several of his songs recorded by other artists. His song "Avocado" is actually on the demo CD for a Mazda Miata Bose Special Edition. And the only way you will know that for sure is to test drive one.

Pete & DK met and played together in the Winter of 2003, and immediately decided that it was necessary to play together in order to survive. We each bring our own unique method and style to the songs, and found early on that we compliment each other's style perfectly. How could we not continue?

DK plays mostly guitar, National Tri-Cone & resophonic guitar, but also dabbles in anything with strings, especially mandolin. Pete plays mostly guitar and mandolin... and banjo... and makes fiddle-like noises when the mood strikes him.

Most importantly, we have fun!! We can play to an empty room and enjoy ourselves immensely!! Of course, we prefer an audience unless we're in Pete's kitchen. :-)

Hope you enjoy our music and that we can run into you "down the road."
