The disc features Schütz' magnificent work, Musikalische Exequien; one of Bach’s most beautiful cantatas, BWV 150, Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich; Telemann's motet, Das ist meine Freude and the cantata, Der Herr ist mit mir, by Buxtehude.

The Ottawa Bach Choir, founded in 2002 by Dr. Lisette Canton, has already achieved national and international recognition and been acclaimed as Ottawa’s best choral ensemble. Consisting of some of the top choristers from the National Capital Region and beyond, the choir performs music from all historical periods while keeping Bach’s choral œuvre as the focus of its repertoire.

Director: Dr. Lisette Canton
Lisette Canton is a choral and orchestral conductor, vocal coach and technician, guest conductor, adjudicator, workshop leader and early music specialist. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed Ottawa Bach Choir and is also Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting Performance at York University in Toronto, where she conducts the Chamber, Concert, Women’s and Men’s choral ensembles, and is in charge of the undergraduate and graduate programs in choral conducting. Prior to her appointment at York, Dr. Canton taught and conducted at Carleton University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and McGill University.
