Brothers Darren and Andy Ferris joined forces in early 2004 with life long friends Fran Hunter and Fran O'Sullivan. By that summer, after a few months of writing and rehearsing they emerged from their basement practice studio with a set full of wild raw energy, passion and whole hearted commitment to their music that captivated every audience lucky enough to see them from Hull to London Town. The highlight to date is reaching the final of the summer/autumn Battle of the Bands at The Rock Garden in Covent Garden, London. In an odd sort of way, the biggest compliment that night came from the 5th placed bands fans who started a brawl with the winning group at the bar slamming their performance and insisting Ottogono were head and shoulders above every band there that night. If only those Essex boys were on the judging panel!!
Individually Ottogono are packed full of talent. Darren Ferris is a local legend. He never drops a note despite covering every inch of the stage enthralling audiences with his chest pounding antics bouncing his tambourine of his head song after song after song. Darren might disagree but kid brother Andy is Ottogono's sex symbol. Showing maturity beyond his years on lead guitar he could never be accused of riding on the back of his good looks. Holding all this together is the drum and bass of the 2 Frans. Sully is coolness personified on the Bass whilst H plays the drums as if his life depended on it. As good as these 4 are individually it's their collectiveness that sets them apart from the rest. They write as a unit and this shines through in their live performances.
They have just finished recording their debut album "Here It Comes Now!" which they are going to release on the independent label Jinky records set up by Sully's brother Mark.
"Here It Comes Now" is a breathe of fresh air at a time when the British music scene is oozing with fresh new talent and this album is definitely maybe a classic in the making. From the second it announces it's intentions with the infectious "The One" to the time H bangs a final drum on the fabulous "With Me" its classic guitar music all the way briefly pausing for acoustic respite midway with "The Feel" as Andy Ferris demonstrates his versatility and a voice to match his looks.
