I got my first guitar in 2000, if I remember correctly. However, I hardly touched the damn thing for 5 years. In 2005 I really got into music and started playing guitar.
At the very start my brother taught me how to play. After a while I heavily got into System Of A Down and The White Stripes. Many of their riffs were fairly simple for me to learn, and that’s when I really got into guitar.
I later got into Korn, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Sepultura, Soulfly and stuff like that. Lots of nu metal and grunge. I was still heavily into System Of A Down, so I formed a band that totally ripped them off.
I then got into Tool and Pantera. I was really into the southern metal thing for a while, until I found out about a band called Down. That band changed my style of playing and music taste forever.
From Down I got into the whole sludge metal thing, and from there I finally got to stoner rock and stoner doom metal. I fell in love! The slow, fuzzy heavy goodness. Kyuss, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Weedeater, Bongzilla, Goatsnake, Fu Manchu and the list goes on. My System Of A Down rip off nu metal band instantly changed into a stoner/blues rock band, Stream Of Sorrow.
I’ve been doing the stoner thing ever since. I’m still into that stuff mostly, but there are so many other genres to love!
I got into the old hardcore punk stuff, garage rock, drone metal, death metal, reggae, psychedelic, progressive, blues, blues rock and all this experimental stuff, like Tuvan throat singing.
I have a few stoner doom metal projects going on, and Stream Of Sorrow is still running, but lots of my solo stuff is very experimental and different. Lots of blues, punk, drone, acoustic and extreme stuff. I also used to be in a death metal band called Decaying, and I currently have an acoustic project going on with my girlfriend, Saana.
Not only do I experiment with multiple genres, but I also play a variety of instruments. I sing, play guitar, bass, drums, piano, harmonica and ukulele.
I look forward to a versatile future musically!
