Benny Rietveld and his friends Allen Won,Jamie Fox and Noel Okimoto...Bass,Sax,Guitars and Drums met again in Janary 1993,4 childhood friends... they laughed,drank,talked for hours,and decided it would be a good thing to play again,and what emerged was this record.The OUTTAKES is the name of the Band,and Genuine Article is the name of a CD that is now impossible to find unless the masters somehow appear from nowhere. The music is very eclectic,from The Ex Factor,which is a tune that is very much like all the music I heard back in the 1970´s.Thru Ike Ano Ahi Ahi,a very Hawaian song by Allen,to A Distant Episode by Benny,a tune that is somewhat strange in the sense that Benny has composed this as a layer-on-layer- meaning it starts off as a 4/4 with timbalero Karl Perazzo,then the mood changes when Joanne Brackeen plays an interlude on the piano,and the mood changes again,Benny plays his bass and keeps it floating while Allen´s Sax row´s the boat ashore. Tyi´n the Knot is one of my favorites,the guitar and the drums are so in sync... Devil´s Foot by Benny is another of my favorites,the syncopated rhythm,the mood,the drumsolo(I do like them,maybe I am weird )... A Delicate Balance ...the mix of a Guitar muted and the drumming....just gives me shivers...I am 20 again,it´s way past midnight,I´m leaning my head on her shoulder and just breathing the music,her scent and my lust...and Benny´s Bass enhances the feeling. It is a delicate balance... The Vision,Huli Huli,,Genuine Article,Shoshin,Beetle Deetle...You told me to make it a short review...which is impossible when it is about the kind of Music I Love...OK?
