Album Notes

The band came together in 2006 to prod all the still-born children of this world into a guitar-and- drum-heavy frenzy of soulfulness. Rooted in music of deep convictions (NIN, Smashing Pumpkins, U2, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, MeWithoutYou), Overhang believes rock'n'roll is still capable of changing the world.

When they're not away, Chicago is sweet home for the band. The city's location in the heart of America suits OVERHANG's desire to find a middle way between opposing worlds. The band's music appeals to both indie and mainstream audiences, combines rock instrumentation with hip hop influenced beats, carries the spirit of classic rock into the future, bridges the gap between sacred and secular and offers heart n' soul to an industry not known for having either.

Overhang's debut album was released in November of 2007. All but one of the tracks were mixed in Copenhagen, Denmark by long-time friend Janis Kalnins. Bassist Nate Bierdeman mixed the remaining track before it was mastered by Trevor Sadler of Mastermind Studios in Milwaukee, WI. The band is currently playing shows in the Midwest.

Very early-mid 90's U2. Awesome guitars and effects! Amazing artwork and packaging! Poetic lyrics! Track 7, "So Long", is definitely my favorite on the album. The bass and drum riffs are so catchy. Awesome lyrics, but the vocals did not grow on me until the second listen through. The guitars have so many awesome effects on them, I wish the vocals had more obvious effects in some songs, to kind of fit in more with the surroundings. You should definitely listen to this with a good pair of headphones, or a good set of stereo speakers, to get all of the panning artwork. You should also crank the volume to get the full dynamic range experience.
