ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Children of the Overman, come forth! The Overman is drrrrrrunnnk!
Overman was a sometimes poppy and sometimes crazy punk band that played in and around Kalamazoo in 1991.

Overman played the type of music that Blink 182 and Greenday would later make a pop sensation* - except with bit of dischord and notesy riffs and theatrics that put a little sick art in the mix.

A clear common ancestor may be the Decendents (where we came from) and Nomeansno (where we were heading). But Overman also sounds like bands such as All, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Pennywise, Minor Threat, Dagnasty, Victim's Family, NOFX, Rancid, Goldfinger, SNFU, Doggiestyle (in fact, we blatantly rip-off doggiestyle here), Replacements, The Offspring, Husker Du, the Toy Dolls, The Ramones, Hanson Brothers, Sex Pistols, The Damned, and on and on...

We also emulated our Kalamazoo contemporaries FAQ and Thought Industry and Twitch and the Sinatras and King Tammy and others.

Being an Overman was fun. Overman was fun. Big fun Overman. Overman eventually grew up to be prog-geek-core art-nerds/fags Screwtape y1.993k (see tasmlab 92). Then Jeff (Till himself) went on to be ultra-nerd with TASM Lab and the Hudson Debacle. Matty went to form Monster Zero and the Rural Electrification Act.

Now, in 2003, TASM Lab has remastered the old "Racecar" cassette into a CD! This features 10 songs (19 songs total) not featured on the original cassette and features re-mastered sound, and spruced-up guitar and vocals. The original cassette was a fucking smash, selling over 200 copies in its first and only year on the market.

This is a real panic. A genuine heart attack. The real McCoy.

This disc is a home-dubbed CD-R release (much like the original home-dubbed cassette release). In proper DIY format, the disc is hand-painted and the CD packaging is photocopied and hand-assembled. MP3/iPod versions are on tasmlab.com.

* Oddly enough, we were told then that we had "missed the boat" with our melodic punk then, and were dreadfully to late to be playing that type of music. We should have stayed on!
