Album Notes

Overzealous (adjective)-
1. marked by excessive enthusiasm for and intense devotion to a cause or idea

"Adrenaline-fired power pop in the vein of their hometown heroes, Superdrag." Nashville Rage

Melody is back. From the start Overzealous has striven to bring back melody, harmony, and good feeling to rock. Opposite of heavy rock today, Overzealous steers away from depressing lyrics and hard-core negative attitudes...after all life is short! Instead, they've developed on catchy melodies and positive moods. Overzealous is a four piece retro-rock band from Nashville, TN with two of the original from Knoxville. In the beginning, Singer/ Songwriter Dustin Sellers started the band with high school mate Brad Crittenden (lead guitar/ vocals). The band recorded a full length album, and played shows in the Knoxville area which created a volatile fan base. The first album consisted of catchy numbers "Intake", "No Sin Lynn," and "Sugar Plum Fairy." This ten song jewel was used as the ammunition for a live show with nostalgia and charisma abound. In 2002 the duo relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to enter Middle Tennessee State University's recording industry program. It was here that drummer Eric Hill and bassist Josh Gifford hopped on board and brought a new meaning to high energy shows. New material and success came quick. With ultra catchy numbers such as "One Day Lover", "Cool with You", "Hannah", Overzealous won the Murfreesboro Battle of the Bands which awarded them free studio time at Wolf Studios in Nashville. After interest in the group's music they are now providing Overzealous additional time to cut another full length record. The future holds endless possibilities for the group. Overzealous isn't just putting out groovy melodies, the band gets off on their individualism coming together for one sound.

I enjoyed this cd because its an independent group writing cool catchy tunes that aren't cheezy. There is endless potential for overzealous and their music.

Very, very solid pop. I listened to it once and now I'm playing it over and over. Superb vocals, great guitars and wonderful lyrics. These guys should write more tunes, cut the full length CD, quit college and go on tour...
