Album Notes

Recorded to 2" tape by Eli Crews at New, Improved Recording, with additional work done in Colin's Beatnik Dungeon. Eli mixed it as well, except for a couple tracks that Colin did. This is our third album.

"If you’re going to go the minimalist route, you can’t be minimal about it. If you strip away a lot from your sound, you need to thoroughly exploit what you have left. This new CD from Oakland’s Ovipositor is a great example of this theory in practice. The songs rarely stray from the power trio format, but every member is doing just what they need to do, just when they need to do it. Colin Frangos can layer on the guitars, or keep it simple. Likewise, drummer Mark Pino and bassist Max Sidman can lay down a highly-syncopated groove or a dull thump. The songs mine territory you may think has been picked over thoroughly by The Fall, Pere Ubu (whose 1978 Dub Housing opener “Navvy” is covered herein), or The Minutemen, but these boys come up with more than enough ore for the forge."
