ODDS AGAINST TOMORROW
Biography

Higgins: Vocals, Guitar
Scott Georgis: Guitar
Daniel Madley: Drums
Matt Souther: Bass, Backing Vocals

Odds Against Tomorrow was initially formed in early 2003 by three former members of The American Girls, an act once touted by USA Today as a band to watch in the new Millennium. Although they had regional radio success with their major label release, (Trauma Records/ Sony Music Publishing/ William Morris) the band lost their momentum and dissolved at the end of 2001. The members all parted ways, until Higgins, Scott and Dan reunited two years later, taking the name Odds Against Tomorrow as a reminder of the harsh statistical realities of the fickle music business.

Odds Against Tomorrow started to book shows immediately, playing with a succession of fill-in bass players. However, the band was not complete until May of 2003, when a friend suggested they approach Baseboard Heaters' bassist Matt Souther. Like his new band members, Matt was in the market for a creatively and professionally satisfying new project. Within months, the new band had written over twenty songs, and began building a solid new fan base in the Portland, Oregon club scene.

With the help of producer Rogers Masson (who has lent his eclectic talents to acts as diverse as Marilyn Manson, Emmylou Harris, and The Crickets) Odds Against Tomorrow is set to release their debut CD, titled Nights. Not. End. The album features 12 tracks that span the musical landscape, from the dark and visceral rock of "Shallow Breathing" to the pleasure of truly joyful, exuberant pop of "It's True" and "Hustle."

FROM WILLAMETTE WEEK- portland, or.
Once upon a time, Portland's American Girls oozed sleek, seamless pop that verged on the sugary and acquired national label attention. It's offspring, Odds Against Tomorrow, also promises such greatness, but with a darker, gutsier slant where guitars slam head-on against a top 40-bound structure, resulting in something much more fiery. Singer Higgins still pens mighty, unforgettable monsters, and the recent addition of Baseboard Heaters' Matt Souther should assure the band's place in the local rockstar firmament. -Andre Hagestedt- Willamette Week

Blasting forward with a chunky, guitar-driven slab of modern rock precision and fierce pop sensibilities, here is a band that fully realizes their vision on their full-length debut, melding infectious hooks with tight production. A dazzling display of vocal harmonies enrich the listening experience, brought to life with various instrumentation (pianos, cello, acoustic guitars) which expand their bare-bones rock attack into an elaborate production, but one that doesn't sound forced or labored. Quite the contrary, the record's accomplishments feel natural, documenting a band that took their time making a record they could be proud of, and having fun while doing so.

This band rocks!

I like the style of alternative rock this band has. I'm 42 years old and my teenage kids love this CD from Odds Against Tomorrow too. As well as all their freinds. My 16 year old son thinks this CD is a cross between Weezer and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both bands we like a lot.

Nights.Not.End.

This Portland, Oregon native band united in 2003 and after adding Matt Souther (Baseboard Heaters) to their lineup was ready to start writing. Odds Against Tomorrow has compiled a repertoire of 20 songs since their formation and selected 12 to headline on their debut album Nights. Not. End. OAT offers a light rock sound that is upbeat and lighthearted. Higgins is the highlight of the band with his clean guitars and edgy voice that has a Jimmy Eat World bend to it. The back-up vocals from the band provide nice harmonies and blend well behind Higgins. Scott Georgis is strong on his guitar and works with Daniel Madley (drums) to add the extra spice that gives OAT it’s flair. Madley expertly uses rhythms to his advantage and maintains an even balance between the instruments at his disposal. They are a simple band and use their abilities to the fullest to create a songs that posses style not unlike Coldplay. OAT has a good sound that is easy to get into and is catchy. They offer an easy sound vocally and instrumentally and I enjoyed them. They had tuning issues on a few tracks but overlooking that were pretty solid. OAT is worth keeping track of for future albums. Key track: Breathe Easy
