Album Notes

Owain Phyfe's Bardic Adventure Tour continues with this pensive song collection spanning six centuries and a multitude of cultures and languages. Welcome in the 3rd millennium with this intimate and exotic vision from the past.

"The instruments of Renaissance music are as exotic as the languages in which the songs are sung: chitarra battente, bass viola da gamba, vihuela, cornetto; ancient French, middle English, Latin, Ladino. Berkley singer-scholar-musician Owain Phyfe and his accompanists somehow make it all seem welcoming and familiar. Must be the kind of magic Phyfe salutes in his introductory words about the mystic moods of twilight. This is mellow music, mostly about love, the sort of stuff they play while your buying candles in gift shops up north. In an automobile, it also makes an ideal vaccine against road rage; new vehicles should come with a Phyfe recording as standard equipment." ----Detroit Free Press Staff Writer, Martin F. Kohn

REVIEWS

A Bard Indeed.

Owain has one of the most distinct and down right amazing voices of any singer of any genre that's out there. Once you hear him once, you'll want to hear more. This album is like all of his others...fan-freakin-tastic! You know, Sting just put out a renaissance music album, and it is a sad, poor, pale imitation compared to Phyfe's interpretation and angelic vocal abilities. Owain's mastery of the various languages that he sings in is unmatched by any other singer out there. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. Heck! By all his CD's. Get everything he has ever done. I have. You won't be disappointed.

Owain is the best, I have all of his CDs and play them continuously. This is magical music, uplifting and warm, like a fine glass of wine. I needed to buy this one again to give as a gift, and CDBaby worked out great.
