Album Notes

Two young Bay Area folkies got together in the early 1990's and began writing, composing and playing music together. They loved the traditional sounds of England, Ireland and the Appalachians and found thmselves experimenting with new ways of presenting that music. A couple years later they put out a CD of their discoveries. That CD has sat in Steve's garage for over a decade. Now the due is finally getting it together to put their music online.

Valerie and Steve are progressive traditionalist musicians, loving the old songs and tunes but equally loving all the funky things that folks like Pentangle and Steeleye Span did to that music.

Lots of originals on this album, though you will probably have a hard time telling what's original from what's trad. They write like the old folks did.

Perhaps after you hear a few cuts you'll wonder why these guys never got famous. Well, one reason (oh, and also it's really hard to get famous nowadays) is that they never took their show on the road, never pushed the CD on Djs, never even put their music up on iTunes, until now, 2009. So if you haven't heard of them join the club. But if you like their music and if you'd like to help clean out Steve's garage, buy one of the 1000 CDs printed. Unless a miracle happens, they won't be printing any more.

But most important of all, give the music a listen. We think you might enjoy it.

Steve Baughman est vraiment l'un des meilleurs guitaristes acoustiques que j'ai jamais entendu avec en particulier une maitrise de la dynamique de la musique sans égal. Steve Baughman is really one of the best acoustic guitar player I have ever heard. I particulary appreciate his command of the dynamic of tunes (I mean the conrole of the volume of each single note)
