Come in.
It's all about being a cat trapped in dogland. But you can find beauty anywhere if you look hard enough. Name me a cause more noble than that.
If you want a genre (and you do) this is alternative pop/rock. Narco glam with acoustic roots. Absinthe with both ears. Spawling and lush. Intimate and jagged.
A Brief History
Own Little World's debut album, Stuff of Myth and Mystery was released in August 2004 and is distributed in Europe by Backs Records/Shellshock. The album is short and sweet, featuring 8 musical gems plus a bonus video track (I'm Disappearing) written and directed by BAFTA nominated director, Philip Barnard (Gone to the Dogs).
Since its release the album has met with widespread critical acclaim and received extensive European radioplay as well as bagging the band a BBC session. Ultimately the album is just the culmination of collective years of off-beat experience, combined with their trademark blend of twisted and often beautiful imagery.
We hope you like the result. We do.
The band are Alec Bastin ('Cousin Al' - guitar/vocals), Matt Tooke (drums) and Martin Clement (bass). OLW also owe much to recently departed and sorely missed bass player and founder member (although still alive and kicking), Gareth Turner.
Playing regularly around their hometown of London as well as coming off a recent UK tour, European festival dates and live radio sessions, Own Little World's live shows always manage to find a hidden notch on the tone nob.
Cats make good loners but in dogland we've got to stick together.
