Album Notes

About a year ago I decided to start making a new album. I had written a few songs since my last album "THE TRUTH IS YOU" but didn't have enough that I thought would be good enough so I thought I'll just start and hopefully the songs will just come. So I started recording and before you know it some songs that I felt good about started to come and i choose one from a long time ago to finally record. Like most musicians/writers I have a day job and can only record and write mostly at nite for a few hours at a time. Thank god for those few hours when one gets to leave the insanity behind. So before you is the collection of recorded songs with the help of a few close friends and family members contributing their talents and encouragement. To those people I say thankyou from the center of my heart! I thought you might like to know what the songs are about so here goes.

BACK TO MEXICO
Twenty five or so years ago i got into an auto accident in Guatalajara Mexico {my fault} and with the help of a couple of federal police officers driving a white Lincoln Continental i escaped . A very scary time for a while ( if we ever meet ask me to tell you the whole story). Sitting alone one night I started to think about the incident (hadn't thought about it for a lot of years) and I thought it might be nice to go back for a visit . That thought inspired me to write the song.

LOOK AT YOUR OWN LIFE
kind of speaks for itself. I'm me and you're you and that's a cool thing!

ITS TIME
just my own thoughts on a screwed up situation.

I AM JESSE JAMES
one day I was reading about Jesse and thought what an interesting man. Here was a guy who robbed and killed people with the help of his brother and a few ever changing crew of bad men. But totally unknown to the towns people where he lived. They all thought he was a respected financier and family man. Which he was weirdly enough. But destiny caught up with him.

JUST THE WAY IT GOES
sometimes no matter how hard you try to manipulate or figure out life it just goes on the way it chooses to!

WITHOUT YOU
I thought how hard it would be to lose someone you loved very much to a war knowing that they gave their life for something they believed in!

HOLD ONTO
if it's only onesided please tell me why i'm still here!

AWAY FROM YOU
made up my mind!

BENS SONG
a long time ago a family member had a short time left to be with us. {They were wrong} this song was an expression of my feelings at the time.

AN ORDINARY MAN
we're all individuals with something special to offer.

Bravo to Owny Rutledge! I haven't bought an album in a few years, but this one inspired me. I've played several of the songs so many times that I wake up with them in my head. That's not such a good thing when it's a toxic jingle, but with Owny's songs, it's sheer joy. His words are inspiring and his music touches a sleeping heart! I've purchased several copies to share with friends and all have loved his work as I do.

Just adding to all the other positive comments: this is an album with lots of great songs which definitely stand up to repeated play. As corporate radio gets more and more boring with every passing day, it's really refreshing to find something original which is truly worth listening to.

Every song is a gem, I highly recommend this album. Everyone I play this record for, falls in love with it. Perhaps his finest work to date, but without doubt a classic record in any era.
