VERNON OXFORD'S new single from VERNON OXFORD sings Gospel, Country & Bluegrass, is the haunting refrain:
THE LAST DAYS OF NEW ORLEANS, with video, which can be accessed at: www.vernonoxfordcountry.com, at Sweet Southern Sounds or on the AOL country music videos site. Also, soon, a video on the Ho Bo song...
Vernon Oxford wrote one song on the cd, with Everett Corbin (now promoting the music of the GREAT Vernon Oxford)having written 11...with 10 new songs. The other: GREEN PASTURES AND BLUES SKIES, is a cover of Everett's song first recorded by Carl Story (bluegrass) in 1977.
This album is basically Christian in nature, but for the first time has some bluegrass, gospel tinged songs by Vernon Oxford.
VERNON OXFORD, often cited as: THE GREATEST COUNTRY MUSIC VOICE SINCE HANK WILLIAMS...first came to Nashville in 1964; Everett Corbin was here a year later, and became editor of the Faron Young publication, MUSIC CITY NEWS, in 1966-67...with them for some 10 years in various capacities, and writing features on Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Lynn Anderson, Al Dexter, Audrey Williams and Dolly Parton (her first major interview), among others...INCLUDING a number of feature stories on VERNON OXFORD.
Vernon first recorded in 1964 tons of singles for RCA Victor Records, but they only released one lp...but the fans in Europe clamored for his songs, and RCA there later released a number of lps.Later, Bear Family Records released all of this material on a 5-cd box set, including songs from: AMERICA'S UNKNOWN SUPERSTAR, first released in 1980, produced by Everett Corbin. By 2002, Everett decided to have this material released on cd through Old Homestead Records as: THE OXFORD TOUCH, and more information on that cd (where Everett again wrote 10 of the 12 songs) can be had by contacting Everett Corbin at:
everettcorbin@comcast.net.
The new album as indicated is basically gospel/Christian, with 2 songs detailing an angel theme, among other deeply religious offerings, such as: JESUS IS COMING FOR YOU and SLEEPING IS FOR THE DEAD...
...and I can't forget to mention one patriotic song:
THE FLAG HAS DISAPPEARED...remember that Flag that disappeared after the 9/11 tragedy? It's in part about this event.
Dear Country Music Fan: you won't want to pass this cd by. It has music for all tastes, not just country.
--Musically,
Everett J. Corbin
co-producer of the album, along with Vernon Oxford and
Larry Marrs
Publishing most of the songs through:
Corbin Music, BMI

And finally, dear dedicated country music fan, let's prove to Nashville (not one label...not even the small, bluegrass ones would even listen to the cd),that the indies have MORE to offer than do the so-called giants that won't listen to REAL talent!

A nice mix of tunes and styles in these 12 tracks. Still has that honkytonk sound but with more uplifting content and less crying in your beer. Best $9.99 you will spend this year. Thanks Vernon. Thanks Everett.
