Want a cd without one filler track ? Want a cd you can just leave on ? This is it ! The music is up-beat, and well done. Each Artist is up front in the mix,and each of them are amazing ! The vocals are perfect ! The Music hits on a little bit of Seattle's best, a dash of Pulse Ultra, some funk type grooves, yet is indeed original ROCK ! No cookie cutter music here. I cant believe I got my hands on this cd before the major label's did !

now *this* is a unique disk

I didn't know anything about Pacer or CDBaby a month ago. I stumbled around on the website listening to a lot of the sample tracks, and didn't find much that interested me. Then, I found one disk that hooked me (Singleminded - Dysphoria), and on the bottom of the page, it recommended listening to Pacer, too.
I love both disks (I gave Singleminded 5 stars, too), but for completely opposite reasons. Singleminded sounds similar to a lot of bands I love already, but their talent shines through even though their sound isn't all that different from some of today's popular acts.
On the other hand, Pacer has their own sound. You can hear some of their influences, but only faintly. Although the CD is short, the 7 tracks showcase an impressive breadth to their sound. No two tracks sound alike, and you won't skip any of them.

Montreal’s Pacer have been making a lot of noise for a long time, but I’ve never heard noise quite like this. This seven track piece of art was released to the masses after a spectacular performance opening for California’s Trapt. After listening to the album about 30 times in the last two days, I’ve come to realize that this unsigned local act is putting out material that tops most bands releasing their full-lengths on major labels. Not many CD’s that I own have a replay value so high.
The disc kicks off with Maximum Security, a re-mastered, re-recorded version that has everything you need. It’s catchy, heavy and is oddly inspiring. Right off the bat, Persuasion graces you with a funky bass-line courtesy of Nick Piromalli, and into a song with great structure all around, Nick Latif’s vocals are powerful and are much enhanced by backing vocals. Convention Break is the next track and it starts off with sedate guitar riffs but flies into a quick shuffle of instruments, and then into a heavy chorus. Nick Latif continues to shine, juxtaposing his vocals to some great guitar work courtesy Ceasar Coyne and Paul Farran. Then Face Down. Probably the first Pacer track most fans heard, it’s been available on their website pacermusic.com since the beginning. Face Down IS the greatest state of mind. Pacer maintain a heaviness, tightness and leave your mouth dripping. Drummer Gopal Devanathan steals the spotlight in this song, with machine-gun like drumming and precision. Face Down is followed by my second favorite song on this album, The Silent Treatment. For the first minute, we hear a beautiful prelude into the rest of the song. I hope you’re not afraid. The song fades out and leaves us moments to assemble ourselves before My Rain. My Rain blows you away from the first second, and kicks into a really nice groove, reminiscent of… nothing. It’s something only these amazing musicians could come up with, its what sets them apart, it’s what makes Pacer great. My Rain is full of surprises, pieces you may not expect, adding originality and attracting listeners everywhere. Sadly, there’s only one track left, this seven-track has winded down to Denial. My favorite track on this CD, denial starts off heavy and maintains it all the way through. Quick beats and astounding melodies are a few of the amazing aspects of this song. The lyrics are truly stunning, this song is so absolutely crazy, it’s difficult not to fall in love with it. It also seems to have some sort of… not sure. It has a different feel.
So, you’ve read me ramble about how great this album is. There’s not much left for all of you to do, check out www.pacermusic.com, find a way to get your hands on Involuntary Movement, you will not regret it.
