Album Notes

Pacific Orchestra was born in Key West during the mid 1970s. Starting as a duo performing in a garden bar hidden behind Delmonico's, the notorious gay disco, David "Khan" Johnson (vocals & guitar) and John Gladstone (flute, sax & vocals) created a tropical mix of rock, soul and jazz. The resulting sound, which made people rise out of their seats to dance, became the template for the music that Pacific Orchestra made through the eighties up and down the east coast of the US. The band was fleshed out by a large cast of extremely talented and crazy musicians who each took the sound and added their own unique mark. Exposure to reggae caused the band to veer into unknown territories long before the general public caught wind of the heady odor. Even when the band relocated to Brooklyn, New York in the early 80s, they brought with them the sound created at dances on the beach which shimmered and shook under the Key West moon. This collection of songs, recorded throughout their fifteen year career, are timeless in their ability to invoke a sweet place under the palm trees where it's always hot and cool.
