Paco Benitez is a bass player/songwriter living in Madrid, Spain. Born in Cadiz in 1966 and raised in Miami, he started playing the electric bass in 1983.
Since his return to Spain, he has played for more than a hundred artists in the jazz, blues, pop and rock circuits and recorded several albums and film scores as a sideman.
"Artesanía" is his first record as a leader with ten strong original compositions arranged and produced by Paco.
The fine musicians featured in "Artesanía" are players from Madrid's music scene: Javier Paxariño, Pedro Cabredo, Lorenzo Solano, Isi Fernandez (Saxes), Robin Cooper (trumpet and flugelhorn), Javier Escribano (Trombone), Moises Sanchez, Victor Alonso, Fernando García (Keyboards), Juan Carlos Jimenez "el niño", Antonio Toledo, Jairo Zavala, Dabas Herrera, Richie Guinea (Guitars), Helena de Alfonso (vocals, Javier Palancar (accordion), Jaime Medina, Juan Carlos Arellano "El Ruso" (percussion) and Toni Jurado on drums.

Excellent compositions, players & production
author: Junior Leo
The technical proficency of the musicians in this recording is breathtaking, but what makes their work stand apart from other fusion stuff lies in the fact that they are all playing at the service of excellent compositions, rich and complex in rhythm and harmony but nonetheless so expressive and entertaining in melody. You don't need to be a fusion fan to enjoy this recording -if you are you'll just love it.

At last a CD that delivers the feelings of Madrid to your door steps...HOT Bassi
author: Von Jose' Roberts
I first heard this CD in the States...If you have ever been to Madrid, then you will feel it throughout this CD... like the city, it is musically multi-cultured in its sound. Mastered to brilliance, this CD displays the awesome talents that lie in the living city of Madrid. Just when you think you are going into the world of hard rock, Paco flips the switch between Jazz Rock, Hard Rock, Flamingo; Smooth Jazz...even some old Dixieland riffs. Most CDs that are written by bass players become boring after listening to them a few times; this one will not because every time I listen to it, I hear something different, unique and brilliant. This CD is a must for anyone who is tired of a Bass player Cd but still wants brilliance in bass music that features others also. A must for your CD collection!

author: The Prodigal
One of the best records of jazz fusion that I have listened in the last years, a true jewel difficult to find, is a mixture of jazz, rock, flamenco and funk, perfectly played by Spanish musicians, you cannot lose.
