Album Notes

PACO, COSTA RICAN ARTIST, RELEASES HIS DEBUT ALBUM IN USA
“URBANO, LATINOAMERICANO”

Known internationally for his composition included in the soundtrack of the animated Oscar winning film “Happy Feet”, performed by Robin Williams, PACO, leader of the Gold & Platinum winning group in his native country “Ragga By Roots” , introduces his new album Urbano, Latinoamericano.

PACO worked with three producers on this album, Mikhail “El Blanquito” Davies (New Edition, Kenny G), Julian Bunetta (Eminem, Hilary Duff) and the remarkable percussionist Paul Gonzalez. His album also includes collaborations with legendary Latin Hip Hop artist Magic Juan.

PACO has become a master songwriter, vocalist and musician, creating a unique sound from diverse musical elements that include dynamic world rhythms, gritty hip hop, tropical melodies, rock, jazz percussion and reggae dance hall. Drawing from a wealth of urban experiences and a refined palette of world influences, he creates soul-stirring, hip-shaking music.

His latest solo offering, Urbano, Latinoamericano, is no different. “I am constantly in the studio and when it came time to put this album together as a project, there was a wide range of music to choose from”, PACO explains candidly. For this reason, the title Urbano, Latinoamericano couldn’t be more appropriate; the album takes you on a journey through the wide range of sounds that are urban and Latin and everything in between. Urbano, Latinoamericano is an experience of different scenarios that introduces the listener to different characters on each song. It is this journey, this process, that is exceptionally and distinctly PACO.

Amongst his multiple accomplishments, PACO co-wrote for Howie D (Backstreet Boys) for his forthcoming solo album and is a featured artist on the album Bob Marley – The Reggaeton Remixes, where he sings a reggaeton version of “Sun Is Shining” alongside the legend himself, Bob Marley.

PACO’s music has appeared in the hit series Sex and The City (HBO), Desperate Housewives (ABC), Adrenalina (Mun2), The Shield (FX), The District (CBS), Entourage (HBO), CSI: Miami (CBS), and The Wire (HBO), amongst many others.

Urbano, Latinoamericano is a social critique, roadmap and set of anthems for Latino unity that is wrapped in street pounding rhythms, booty bouncing beats, captivating hooks and sophisticated production. Urbano, Latinoamericano demonstrates both PACO’s sophistication as an artist and the importance of his voice to reflect the Urban Latino experience. The album is a contemporary gem destined to become an Urban Latino classic.

It is very well produced. Sounds like a million dollars production. The beats and melodies are very catchy. I think this man should be bigger than Yanki.

What makes this rap music superior is the melodic nature of the songs. For once we are hearing music and not just political propaganda. It is also refreshing to hear an artist come out against drugs and violence. Five big stars for this one.
