Album Notes

This is the first half of a two part debut album for Declan O'Sullivan, aka Paddyman. Declan has become internationally renowned within a short period of time for his quick wit, original and controversial songs. However, Declan's musical abilities stretch far beyond comedy. He is a talented entertainer who has been performing in Irish pubs around the world for the last 20 years!

Savage Irish Drinking Songs is a true reflection of his love of performing the songs that people know and want to hear in an Irish pub. He's not shy about including songs made popular by other artists he has recently played alongside - including Sharon Shannon's Galway Girl and Wolfe Tones' Big Strong Man!

Besides foot stomping classics like Whiskey in the Jar and The Wild Rover, Paddyman also performs the romantic Irish song Black is The Colour with heartfelt warmth and strength. I suppose it's not unusual that his song choice and performance style is influenced by the iconic Christy Moore, given that they both come from County Kildare.

It is worth noting that Declan also played other instruments on the album to fill out the songs where necessary. So besides the obvious guitar, vocals and harmonica, you will hear Declan play drums, bass, keyboards, bohran and banjo on various tracks. He even recruited his father to play button accordion for a few songs! The album features his Dad as the lead part for the Irish Polka set / Rattlin' Bog.

If you are looking for a high energy album of the best Irish Pub Songs, you've found it! Slainte!
