Album Notes

New York, NY. The Performing Arts Division of the National Federation of the Blind is proud to announce the release of their first-ever compilation CD entitled “Sound In Sight – Volume 1”.

18 songs performed by blind artists were selected through an open submission process and carefully reviewed by the Division’s Board of Directors. Highlights of the genre-spanning collection include Nashville-based songwriter JP Williams’ “Tongue Tied”, Brooklyn folk-pop stylist Brooke Fox’s “Cinematic” and hip hop duo Kemistry’s “Let Me See You Move”.

The album was unveiled at the Division’s General Membership Meeting as part of the National Federation of the Blind’s National Convention held June 30 to July 6 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Active since 2000, The Performing Arts Division of the NFB brings together blind and visually impaired people who have a common and professional interest in the entertainment field. The Performing Arts Division, or PAD, serves as a promotional and networking resource to help its members achieve their artistic and professional goals by sponsoring performance and project opportunities while raising media awareness for talented blind entertainers of all genres.

Founded in 1940, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is the nation's largest and most influential membership organization of blind persons. With fifty thousand members, the NFB has affiliates in all fifty states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, and over seven hundred local chapters. As a consumer and advocacy organization, the NFB is considered the leading force in the blindness field today.
