Jimmy Pagano began playing guitar as a young teenager in 1960's San Francisco. HIs style at the time was finger-style folk. Over the years the complexity and sophistication of his music grew as he absorbed influences from ragtime, blues, and jazz. Today the best description of his playing would be folk-jazz as a glance at the list of songs on this album would suggest. His arrangements are subtle, with multiple moving lines above and below the melody, and though there is much for a guitarist to discover, there is an equal amount of simple pleasure to be had in simply sitting back and letting the music play.

High end of Guitar playing
author: Les Hooper
I have to say that of all the guitar genres, this is the artistic realm of playing. These are all of Jim's own arrangements
and many original tunes of his. The vast majority of guitar players are of the 3 chord variety and play some form
of rock, but this is another animal ... very hard finger style playing , but Jim Pagano has hurdled the barrier in style.
The music is both jazz and pop based with other genres flavored in, but if you know anything about guitar, you know
this is quite an achievement
