ABOUT THE “PALLBEARERS”
On the dynamic and Heartfelt path like Frank Black Lou Reed Iron and Wine and Neil Young: Richard Paul is a songwriter that is true and honest. He swims deep below the surface to give the drowning listener a breath, and pushes them to surface, while somehow ending up at a campfire sometime later recounting the tale.
His self released album chronicles the human condition, his own perspective and the common plight of love gone away. Instead of dwelling on the loss, he sings of the moments inside relationships. Themes are universal and accessible as well as intelligent and broad. Richard plays the drums guitar bass and harmonica as well as sings on the album and also mixes and engineers nearly the entire project. The album is intentionally gritty and sparse, forcing the listener to appreciate the songs for the songs sake, warts and all. It’s a view of love and pain from the highway 44 corridor.

Top Quality
author: Martin Magdalene
This is a beautiful, lyrical album with superb guitar playing and incredible vocals. I was worried it was going to be some scratchy amateur hour at first and I couldn't possibly have been more wrong - this is a great work of art! Soft melodies, shades of regret, warm bluesy guitars, smart lyrics - I feel like I'm now part of the righteous tribe of people that know about the top quality sounds of Richard and the Pallbearers.

My new favorite CD
author: Audrey*
I heard a few lines of The Pacifist and it enticed me into getting the CD and it has been a really good buy. All of the songs are so diverse and different from each other that this isn't one of those CDs where you have one or two songs you like and don't listen to the rest of it. It's sad, it's fun, it's dark, it's happy, and tells a great story. You can definitely feel the energy and emotion put into this music. There's something for everyone and every mood. I'm very anxious to see more from this artist in the future.

Field Recordings From The Lost Highway
author: CJ
A collection of 12 field recordings from the Lost Highway this largely self produced Americana gem is sure to find favour with fans of the likes of Ben Weaver, Iron & Wine or Mark Kozelek. Evocative lyrics and a powerful sense of story telling drive the tracks on this album. From heartfelt ballads through to dust covered legends of the American Southwest this is an album to stay with the listiner long after the intial listen.

Dripping with visual imagery, and just damn good music.
author: Deborah Driscoll
The music is more complex than it appears on the surface. Delve into the nooks and crannies of it, and you will be amazed at the obvious tallent so modestly put on display here. I love the haunting voice and lyrics of "A Trailer Park Fairy Tale", the Layering in "The Pacifist", and the Raw emotion in the timeless cover "Amazing Grace". If you really, and truly love music for the art of it, sit down with printed out copies of the lyrics to all the songs on the album. Sit down and really soak it all in. Then run down the street naked telling everyone proudly that you love Richard and the Pallbearers!
