notes

This all-original, Hammond B-3 organ driven soul-jazz record was recently featured on NPR's "All Things Considered"...to hear this interview, go to npr.org , keyword: Pamela Rose

"A veteran of the Bay Area music scene, the red haired singer/songwriter has hit her stride with "You Could Have it All" her third independently produced album, showcasing 10 intelligent, hip original songs for grown-ups in a style she calls "soul jazz". The title track is a penetratingly soulful ballad, a goose-bump raising duet with former Hoodoo Rhythm Devil vocalist Glenn Walters about a couple daring each other to take the plunge and fall in love.
"'If we survive the fall', they sing in the last line, "we could have it all.'" Marin Independent Journal, October 2001

"The powerful voice of Janis Joplin with the stage dynamics of Tina Turner - Pamela Rose turns jazz into her own personal brand of soul music"
- Ben Fong-Torres, Gavin Report

"A sound as black and soulful as her hair is fiery red"
- BAM Magazine
"An impressive singer, with lots of sexy, soulful swing"
- Phil Elwood, San Francisco Examiner

YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL is the latest release from San Francisco's own blues/soul-jazz queen, Pamela Rose. Ten original songs are served up with a thick groove, delivered by her funky, swinging Hammond B-3 organ band that's filled with world class musicians.

Pamela Rose has been a Hammond B-3 organ devotee all her career. Her first national tour was with organist Merl Saunders (Jerry Garcia). She cut her teeth on two jazz releases recorded with pianist Nate Ginsberg, "Every Time I'm With You" and "On the Jazzy Side of Blue" which was nominated for Outstanding Jazz Album by Bay Area Music (BAM) Magazine.

She stepped it up a notch, however with this new offering, "YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL", calling on her favorite jazz and blues players to record and write the material with her. "YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL" features Danny Caron on guitar (Charles Brown), Producer and organ legend Jimmy Pugh (Etta James, Robert Cray), B-3 player Tony Stead (Gospel Hommingbirds, Joe Louis Walker), drummer Bryant Mills (John Lee Hooker, Charlie Musselwhite, Charles Earland), Sax star Jeff Ervin (Bill Withers, Swing Session) and guitarist Carl Lockett (Esther Phillips, Brother Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith).

"She sings with a confident, soul-drenched style...downright sassy, with attitude to spare." Jazz Now Magazine

Fab songs, used to watch Pam live in the Bay Area. Great to have a little piece of her here in Ireland!

  • Everything I expected!

Her voice is as good as the one time I got to hear her in person. I prefer her upbeat songs but I know fans want to hear them all. I hope she doesn't go another 7 years without another album! Wade
