notes
Pamela Rose is a San Francisco jazz and blues vocalist who has thrilled audiences locally and internationally with her swinging, soulful style. Rose is that rare breed of entertainer who connects solidly with her audience by always delivering a personal and unforgettable musical experience. Her rich, warm voice and easy rapport with her musicians moves jazz and blues audiences of all ages.
Now Pamela Rose is coming out with her fourth CD, “Just For a Thrill”. Produced, arranged, and written with guitarist Danny Caron (Charles Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Ruth Brown), this romantic and sultry recording will be hitting jazz radio stations across the United States in January of 2006, and has already earned Pamela Rose advance praise.
“Just For a Thrill is a cup of slowly simmered jazz. Song after song features Rose at her finest. Intimate, at times hushed, deeply romantic...these are fully absorbed pearls and phrasings of a singer and composer who now knows she needs no improvement. And the band can’t be beat!” Bruce Kelly, Editor, San Francisco Magazine
Rose and Caron pulled together an impressive ensemble of Bay Area artists in order to create an ardent and intimate atmosphere from the first note to the last chord. Salty Hammond B-3 organ grooves are interlaced with more traditional piano and guitar jazz ensembles, delivering a mix of jazz standards and original compositions.
“Rose delivers the goods, blending her love of music with a romantic sensibility to create one fine and soulful jazz disc. Each track is absolutely true to the song. Sassy, saucy...stellar!” Ben Fong Torres, (Gavin Report, San Francisco Chronicle)
Pamela’s last CD “You Could Have it All” received airplay on over 280 independent jazz and blues stations nationwide with heavy rotation on satellite provided networks servicing 120 million subscribers, and resulted in a feature on NPR’s “All Things Considered”.
“Intelligent, hip...songs for grownups...penetratingly soulful” Paul Libertore, Marin IJ
“Rose sings with a confident soul-drenched style, downright sassy, with attitude to spare....” Jazz Now Magazine

Pamela epitomizes jazz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
author: Jack CliffordI love music so much and most of my friends are jazz and blues musicians so I know a little about what I speak. When I heard Pamela for the first time at the North Beach Festival I knew my music library would rise several levels with the addition of this CD. She and that incrediable sax player "own" those tunes and I have told many of my very particular jazz and blues friends to do themselves a favor and get this CD. I know once they do that Pamela will be a welcomed addition to their music libraries. Good tunes and a great mix.
Incredible CD by an Outstanding Artist!
author: Karl from PortlandThe standards are fresh and the originals are personal and passionate. The arrangements are carefully thought out and delivered with exception musicianship. Pamela Rose is a first rate jazz singer clearly in love with the music. A gift from a great talent, this is a MUST HAVE CD!
... straddles the line between jazz and blues with elegance and passion
author: Bryan GirardOn this CD and as always, Pamela straddles the line between jazz and blues with elegance and passion. The music is eminently listenable, while consistantly powerful and convincing. This CD is one of my favorites!
My favorite Rose: great songs, great singing, terrific musicians
author: Steven from San FranciscoI have been a Pamela Rose fan for years and this is Rose at her finest. My favorite CD yet. Soulful, romantic, witty, with great songwriting and a fantastic set of musicians on this session. Danny Caron on guitar and Charles McNeal on sax stand out particularly. Rose's voice is warm and rich and she sounds wonderful on these tracks. I've listened to this CD over and over again and will keep on doing so.
