There is a region of northern and western Greece, bordering on Albania and the Macedonian republic where the music is traditional and exotic while still very much part of the living culture of the region, straddling international borders. Pangeo captures this feeling beautifully bringing us music full of soul and spirit. The songs are full of emotive singing and warbling clarinet. The rhythms, melodies and harmonies are exotic to western ears, but repay the adventurous listener. The CD is also great dance music for those who enjoy the folk dances of the region.
