Album Notes

“Papa” Robert A. Hill is a guitarist/singer/songwriter from Alameda, California. His music is a blending of several different styles, namely blues (his first love), ‘60s and 70’s pop rock, and English/Irish acoustic folk music.

Papa started playing music in the Los Angeles area in the late 1970s through the late 1980s, playing in numerous bands. In 1985, he formed Blackjack Tailor, a hard-blues rock outfit that was located in the Los Angeles area and released an album, Rockin The Boat, in 1986. Other members were Ed Chaput on bass and Tom Sullivan on drums. The band broke up in 1987, and Papa went on to other things.

Papa released his second album, Paroxysms Of Apathy, a solo endeavor in November 2006. For more information, please visit his website at myspace.com/paparah

Papa also plays fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar for the Dogwatch Nautical Band, a folk band that plays songs of the sea. In 2007, Papa teamed up with members of Avalon Rising to form Axis of Blues. Both bands are currently performing throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Stay tuned for future recordings from those two bands and more solo material from Papa Rah.
