Album Notes

Dave was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba March 6, 1927 but raised in Davidson, Saskatchewan. At a young age when asked what he wanted to be, there were three vocations he touted (all in one breath) ~ a musician, a pilot and a policeman. Who would have thought he'd become all three! Some say he was best known for his radio days, but the Dave 'Pappy' Hamel I knew was a wonderful man, friend, mentor, husband, soul-mate, father, instructor, four-time Hall of Famer and much much more to many around the globe.

Music was Pap's passion and he and his guys did what they liked. You won't find any new trend setting tunes amongst these cuts. What you will find are true classics from the mid 20's, 30's and 40's, rounded out with Pap's own tunes; essence of the Pappy I knew and loved.

This CD is dedicated to David Marcel Hamel for all the wonderful years we spent together, who crossed over October 7, 2007. He was better known as Dave 'Pappy' Hamel or Canada's Mr. Smoothy and just Pap to his dearest and closest friends. This CD project has been a true labour of love. I hope you enjoy these tunes.
