Mission Statement
As our name implies we are for the people, meaning that we make music not for fame or our egos but to underscore and celebrate the struggles of humanity.
We’ve dubbed it ‘rebel music.’ Our rhythms and words are orchestrated to incite social change by spreading awareness about the injustices and inequities that are the norm today.
We are blessed with the privilege to have the resources and freedom to express ourselves through music, and we must never take this for granted.
We live in a country that is on the one hand leading the world to demise through war, globalization, and gluttony, but we also feel that revolution may have to be born here for any global progression to occur.
Our mission is to spark mental, physical and spiritual change through music.
Membership:
MC Change (Michael Fernandez aka Cambio/Native Son)
Teresa Lindsay: vocals
Leon Gomez: guitar
Omar Murillo: drums
Zachary Stahl: bass, guitar
History:
On land where soldiers once trained for war, musicians and activists came together to battle against being forgotten, using words and melodies as weapons.
In spring of 2003, a musical movement, moistened by the fog of Fort Ord, spawned from the conscious teachings at California State University, Monterey Bay.
First came the mind: A budding Chicano Mc, Michael Fernandez (MC Change) began scribbling rhymes and organizing on campus.
Then came the melody: Leon Gomez, a longtime MECHista from Soledad, happened to bring out an acoustic guitar at a fiesta and MC Change started flowing over Leon’s soulful notes.
Rhythm followed: The casual jam quickly evolved when MC Change’s roommate Zach Stahl, a South Dakota song writer turned journalist, stepped in with his folk/funk chords.
And so this hip hop/ rebel-soul-rock music blossomed—opening for rock en espanol giant Maria Fatal and Bay Area hip hop group Crown City Rockers—but then withered only to be revived by a breath from the lips and vocals of Teresa Lindsay
At last we found our soul: Teresa’s warm, powerful voice added that second element, that layer, that hook.
It took some acoustic shows and studio time to get our foundation back but once we did an easy going b-boy from the east side of Salinas (Salas) named Omar Murillo rolled in with his funky, grass roots, beats on the drums.
With Omar we now had our heart.
In late 2005 we opened up for hip-hop legends The Pharcyde. Whereas the Pharcyde brought hip hop to the West Coast we have redefined it with our soulful grooves, rock tunes and hip-hop mood all united for a purpose: to inspire social change and plant the seeds of revolution.

thought provoking and socially conscious lyrics mixed with great music
author: Luna
Sort of a mix of rock, spoken word, R&B, this cd has a good blend and balance of genres. The guitar's soulful wails are especially captivating and key to this new style called rebel music.
The twist is that if you listen to the lyrics, they are at least thought provoking, and will definitely stir some emotion. You may agree, you may disagree, but you will definitely feel something. Would have given it 5 stars but the sound levels seemed slightly off sometimes. More of a problem with recording equipment than with the music. I'd buy it again.
