So there it was, a cold, dark February some time ago. A dishevelled and irritable house of five twenty-somethings stared into the abyss of yet another evening doing not a lot. But there was hope. Someone – yes, we’ll blame Cris for this idea – decided to do a bit of musical improvisation, droning on a synth, kicking about a guitar and playing a bit of bass, muttering darkly about artistic integrity. Two of his housemates (Mat and Will) were capable guitarists and made a bit of noise, too. His other two housemates (Jon and Eve) weren’t, so they made different noises, mostly involving violence towards doors, kitchen utensils or gardening tools. Cris wrote some lyrics, Jon and Eve pretty much ignored them and just said, well, stuff.
All of these events occurred within range of Cris’ Dictaphone, which happened to be on at the time. He realised this and ordered the evening’s chaos into a surprisingly eerie 26-minute EP, ‘4Closure’ – allusive of the ‘group’s address, at that stage. The work’s theme is the unconscious, the accidental world we find ourselves in as the nightmares grow closer with every second.
It is with great pleasure that the Paranoid Foundation label marks its tenth release by inviting you to enjoy the twilight of an evening with....Paranoid Entity.
