Parc-X Trio is an instrumental jazz group featuring Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier (piano), Alex Lefaivre (bass) and Mark Nelson (drums). Their original compositions are a cinematic soundtrack to their urban surroundings. Hailing from Parc-Extension, Montreals most multicultural borough, the band sets itself apart from the pack by creating an original sound that mixes elements of pop, classical, jazz as well as world music. There are known for the high-energy shows and their charismatic stage presence. The band’s first album, Parc-X Trio, has been critically acclaimed and shows a surprisingly mature sound.
This first album has been getting regular airplay on such radio stations as Espace Musique (CBC), Planète Jazz, CISM, CIBL and CKUT. The trio frequently plays Montréal’s best jazz clubs such as Upstairs, House of Jazz, Dièse Onze and Bily Kun. Following their first tour of Ontario and Quebec, Parc-X Trio appeared at the 2009 edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. They received an honourable mention for their originality and stage presence. It is the first time that the Festival gives out this special mention to a group. Because of this, Parc-X Trio will perform at Festival again in 2010.

“A first class trio emerging emerging from our local scene.”
André Vigeant, Radio-Canada/CBC
« Comprised of original compositions that encompass pop music’s melodicism, bebop’s virtuosity and well as classical music’s elegance, their first album is a strong statement indeed. »
