Old bandmates, shred guitar legend Mario Parga and ex-Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin team up for a vocal version of Parga's haunting ballad 'Spirit of Night' from his instrumental rock guitar album 'Entranced' (2007).

A big and brooding epic soundscape, 'Spirit of Night' has received critical acclaim from the press and fans alike, who were quite taken with the song's dark, dreamlike mood and level of musicianship of both Parga and Martin.

Excerpt from the CD booklet:

"Originally an instrumental track dedicated to the night, I always thought 'Spirit of Night' would make a good vocal song. It’s popularity on my instrumental album 'Entranced' (2007) reinforced my beliefs so I contacted Tony Martin who I’d worked and toured with back in the early 90’s as I knew his voice would suit the song perfectly…

Tony liked the song and set about recording his vocals, sending me working versions as he progressed. He nailed the song from the very start with his haunting lyrics and soulful melody lines, and I knew the finished vocals would be very special. Tony has one of those rare voices that’s like a musical instrument, he has tremendous control over it and can switch with ease from full power projection to gentle near whispers with perfectly timed vibrato; all of which are captured within 'Spirit of Night'.

The structure of the song differs slightly from the instrumental version to accommodate Tony’s vocals and story, and I added further keyboard parts and Spanish guitars to enhance the song. Best heard in the dark night, I hope you enjoy listening to 'Spirit of Night' as much as we enjoyed creating it :-)"
