Album Notes

Kelly Park and I met when he was a 16 year old that played
drums. He and his late mother would come to my gig to sit in
for experience with the late great Martha Young, pianist , and niece of Lester
"Prez" Young of tenor saxophone fame, for about a year and a
half. Kelly improved his musicianship and decided to become a
professional musician. He disappeared for 15 years. He calls
me one day and says "I "ve been teaching at the Berklee school (In Boston)
of music and I play piano now!" "Oh. Yeah, I'm married and I
have a have a new son," Evan "that I wrote a song for called
" A Special Place", I think you'll like it!" I said," You mean
this is little Kelly Park the kid?" "Yep! all grown up now!"
" O.K Kelly, what do you want?"" Oh. I thought you might like to
join me at a permanent gig at the University of California
faculty club." During that 3 year span Kelly and I played for
all major dinners and celebrations at the faculty club and
developed the music for this C.D. We also began singing while
playing and doing harmony. The "Kerr Bounce" is dedicated to
the "Great Hall" of the University of California faculty club.
Kelly's piano playing is marvelous and we fought over and approved every note in 8 months of recording. This is our first recording! Harley White, Bass and vocals
