ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“It’s vaudevillian in its delivery, dark and soaring at once.” -SF.FunCheap.com

Parlor Tricks scratches that hard to reach itch between Fats Waller and Led Zeppelin with pre-jazz originals and teens to 20's covers, heavy on syncopation and stomp. No music, we guarantee, has ever been better for spooning! Served with sultry vocals, National resonator guitar & ukulele, upright bass and drums.

“Was I Drunk? …and other love songs” is Parlor Tricks’ newest recording on Industrial Ragtime Records. A hot jazz version of “Was I?” kicks off the recording—a cover of Dorthy Dunn’s 1931 Ziegfield Follies smash--with smoldering, seductive vocals and smoking improvisations from the band. The balance of the songs are written by guitarist, writer and eraser Eddie Scher, featuring Melina’s sweet voice, Eddie’s National Style 1 guitar, plus ukulele and banjo, the deep double bass of Jeff Bruner, and extraordinary tympany of Jason Berkman.

Parlor Tricks does for syncopation what Led Zeppelin did for the Theremin; what Lady GaGa did for bubbles.
