notes

Patrick W. Carr loves to play the Blues.

Traditional style electric blues, acoustic Delta and gospel blues, and edgy blues-rock all flow from the heart, soul, and fingers of this veteran player.

He uses a guitar style described as “emotionally charged” and likened to Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, and a vocal style ranging from soulful and subtle to raw and bluesy to relate experiences of loves and lost loves, mean women, happiness and pain, rejection and redemption – often with a little subtle humor.

Born in Louisiana and musically raised on the streets of the French Quarter, Pat’s Southern roots contributed a variety of musical influences including blues, rock, soul, jazz, Cajun, country, bluegrass, and gospel music. Early training included piano, guitar, and singing in church choirs. He also plays bass and mandolin, and plays all instruments on many of his recordings.

Not limited to blues, some of Pat’s songs cross genres into rock, soul, country-gospel, and even a little jazz.

His CD “Put Yourself In My Place” is a collection as diverse as the influences that inspired the songs: from the gospel blues of Blind Willie Johnson to New Orleans soul; from Delta blues and hard-edged Texas blues to bluegrass and country.

Some quotes:
“hot, biting guitar licks”
“excellent, strong vocal”
“solidly crafted in the classic blues vein”
“Swamp feel…clean, excellent lead guitar playing”
“great evocation of classic sound”
“memorable songs…powerful and sincere lyrics”

With airplay on FatCat Radio, SongPlanet, RootsTime in Belgium, Radio Holstebro in Denmark, positive reviews in Japan and Europe, songs in the top 40 of the Blues charts on Broadjam and SoundClick, and steadily expanding internet presence, the word is starting to spread.
