Album Notes

Patrick Callanan is a multi-instrumentalist, a player of guitar, piano, bass, violin, mandolin, dobro, pedal steel guitar, blues harp, saxophone, clarinet, and percussion. He studied composition at University of Maryland and electronic music at Indiana University--but don't let that scare you. He has played rock, blues, folk, jazz, country, bluegrass, fusion, and even some classical. His bands have opened for the Jefferson Airplane, Poco, the Byrds, Savoy Brown, Captain Beefheart, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. This CD came about as a result of piano experimentation with quartal harmony and atonality (that's for you musicians). There are also echos of 50s Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, George Crumb, and others. He is currently playing guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and harmonica in Broken Pick, a DC-based acoustic string band, and working very slowly on a fusion CD.
