Album Notes

So, a punk, a hippy and an Irishman walk into a bar...

Patrick's Head were formed as such in a local Philly bar in 2000. Philly native Patrick Mansfield's punk and VU influence, Dublin native John Byrne's traditional Irish and Dylan influences, and New Jersey native Scott Wikander's flair for southern rock all came together in a wonderful mesh of music called Patrick's head.

"Sounds like Dylan with Hendrix locked in the bathroom" was the first critique that best described them. One acoustic guitar, prominent vocals, and a very distorted electric guitar way in the background.

This 7 song collection is Patrick's Head debut CD. Two of these tracks, "Mine" and "Yeah", were selected to appear in the soundtrack of the film, "West River Drive", written and Directed by Patrick Rodio.

Also, cover design artist, Bill McDonnell won an award for the design of this CD and the CD cover is featured in the award winning collection "Artists In Handcuffs" --and that's John Byrne's dog on the cover (His name is Jack).

It's the kind of CD you need to stop everything for and just listen

I was not expecting this CD when I bought it at one of their shows - which was an upbeat affair. I recognized the three best songs on the album, Mine, Nothing Comes from Nothing, and Yeah right away though and listening to them in my car was so struck by the lyrics. Then the other songs followed, especially What You Deserve which is heartbreaking and so simple. They talked about an upcoming CD at the show and I'll definitely pick it up. I only docked it one star because it's not long enough and it could use something upbeat to offset the rest of the album.
