Patsy Grind is a southern CA pop/rock band playing songs that mix dark, soulful, and honestly stripped lyrics with gritty, melodic music. With the recent release of their full length CD “Call It Love” on the independent Happy Dagger Label, Patsy Grind has caught the attention of fans and critics alike. With catchy rhythms, memorable lyrics, and haunting intensity, “Call It Love” promises to take listeners on a musical and emotional roller coaster ride.
Patsy Grind has been featured performing on the Fox Sports Network and the syndicated TV show, “Queer Edge”, which airs in over 30 million homes, and is experiencing growing radio airplay. The band has built a sizeable following by opening for national acts and playing up and down the west coast.
The band is the creation of singer/songwriter Danielle Silva, whose songs range from insightful studies of human relationships ("Superstar"), to pieces of clever prose ("Beautiful Mess"), to meaningful snapshots of her own life ("Cover Your Eyes"). Her lyrical poetry is showcased in songs that combine a variety of musical influences reflective of Danielle's life and travels.
Danielle has put together an awesome line up that combines power and passion. Judy Cocuzza, formally of Betty Blowtorch is the drummer and driving force behind the band. Judy’s playing has been featured in many magazines including Drum, Spin, and RockRGrl. She has been nominated in the category for Best Female Drummer by the LA Music Awards, Rock City News, and All Access Magazine. Mapex Drums are part of her list of endorsements, which include Vater sticks, Remo heads, and Paiste cymbals.
On lead guitar, Leslie Stoddard is responsible for all the catchy hooks and screaming solos. Leslie studied at The Berkley College of Music and has played with Cause For Concern and Gia’s Fix. She has been featured in Guitar Player Magazine promoting her custom made Farnel guitars, and was honored with the award for Best Female Guitarist by the LA Music Awards.
On bass, it’s Dave Moore, the heart of the band’s solid lower end. Multi talented, Dave also plays guitar, drums, and piano. Dave is a veteran of the LA music scene and a noted freelance player. Together, this band fuses together to make for an incredible, intense sound and show.

Patsy Grind's 'Call it Love' does just that.
author: Just Aly.
With this collection of catchy and fiercely intelligent testaments to the complexities of love, packaged in a sound and energy somewhat reminiscent of our favourite 80’s Chanteuses, Patsy Grind's 'Call it Love' displays a unique character and temperament that will appeal to anybody who's ever been in love and managed to maintain their sense of humor.
The album possesses a brilliantly clever lyrical style and sound and, true to theme, each track tells of a generally tragic love story with incomparable wit and an empowered edge.
These entertaining, yet sardonic and darkly amusing songs colorfully reflect the unfortunate experiences of someone who would benefit from better judgment in love. But let’s face it, wouldn't we all? We leave the album with our own tragic experience positively affirmed, reminded that the multi-faceted challenges of love are indeed universal, and with a sense of desperate anticipation... Perhaps if the next aural adventure from Patsy Grind speaks of love fulfilled and eternal happiness, in sun-drenched soliloquies of pure ecstasy, there really will be hope for the rest of us!
Definitely check this one out.
