Formed near the beginning of 1999, Patterns in Static has gone through many changes, mainly names:) First the band went by Lucky Strike 7, which was changed to One Step Behind and then Patterns in Static in 2004. The band's style has also undergone drastic changes. In earlier years they had a punk rock foundation and experimented with ska and emo. By the turn of the century One Step Behind was focusing more on musicianship and thoughtful lyrics. Taking a cue from bands such as Rise Against and The RxBandits, Patterns in Static believes there is a place in music for such things as love and relationships, but those subjects shouldn't be all-consuming. The lack of politics and other important issues in a genre that used to be a haven for such things is disheartening. As an alternative to simply complaining in their music, Patterns in Static is currently striving to address these and other problems, mention alternatives, and support integrity and positivity in the scene.
In '99 Lucky Strike 7 released "Far From Anywhere," the band's first ep. Their first full length was entitled "Headaches and Heartbreaks." That cd and "It Never Rains, It Only Pours" were both released by One Step Behind. Patterns in Static has recorded a new full-length album with Belligerent Records that is for sale now.
