ABOUT THIS ALBUM


Album Notes
This album was a long time in the making. Because the songs span over a longer period of time, they are a more complete picture of me. I had many songs I could of included that I love but had to stop somewhere(they will be for a future album)! I have lived in different European countries(Italy, France and England)and this has influenced the style of this album. I am also a prairie girl at heart and I believe my Canadian roots show through so this album is a collage of who I am.
There are songs that are about love, food, pain, fun, sex, deception and hope. When I play the songs live, I sometimes give a little background to each song but I also like the idea that when people listen to a song, they might connect with what they think it means for them so I won't give it all away right now. Hope you enjoy it. x

On Fire For Prairie Burn
Being a music lover of all genres and a prairie boy at heart, I can't begin to say enough about this fresh and exciting album by female vocalist Patti Layne. I enjoy the vocal range demonstrated by Ms. Layne. As well, the stories and messages she spins in each of the tracks are worth the price of admission alone. I thoroughly dig the album and highly recommend it to anyone who believes in truly fine music.

This is an amazing album of beautiful songs,some sad and dark to some light and happy ones,but they re all very real and they take you on a nice journey.
Patti has a beautiful voice and her spirit comes through the whole album.

If you like insightful and self revealing lyrics concerning the joys and disappointments of relationships allied to strong melodies then ‘Prairie Burn’ by Patti Layne is a must for your MP3 player. The title track itself has one of the best opening lines by a female performer since Patti Smith’s debut. The call and response structure and multi-tracked harmonies of the chorus evoke a Southern Baptist gospel choir. Patti’s voice alternately soft and intimate one moment and then rousing and powerful the next. ‘Ordinary Day’ explores the post honeymoon period of a relationship, and the journey beyond disappointment and inertia, towards the realisation that love is to be found within the mundane routines of daily life. The sparse arrangements complement the lyrics and the unusual use of trombone adds colour to the standard instrumentation. You won’t regret checking out this CD.
