Patti Casey has earned her spot as a fixture on the Vermont folk scene through sheer talent and hard work, and the rest of the folk world is beginning to take notice of this charming New Englander with the Patsy Cline-ish touch. A native of Vermont with strong Irish roots (her dad still has a noticeable accent despite being born on American soil), she has long been driven by a sense of tradition. A prolific songwriter, Patti has perfected her own New England-flavored bluegrassy style, one that shines equally with the welcome, familiar bluegrass sound and an undeniable originality. Her second solo album, Under Different Skies, reveals her maturity as both a writer and performer and treats listeners to what has been called, "the sweetest voice and some of the finest songwriting to come out of Vermont in the last 25 years" (Vermont Public Radio), not to mention superb backup from members of her regular band, Redwing, as well as a few intriguing guests. Patti more than holds her own out of her home state; she has appeared live on Garrison Keillor/NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion" and was a year 2000 winner of the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk songwriter's competition, following her second-place award in 1995 at the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at the legendary Merlefest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

1 Great Voice + 1 Great Guitar = 1 Amazing CD!
author: Darin Volpe
I thought heard a hint of a jazz singer\'s voice hiding in the bluegrass on Patti\'s CD \"Edge of Grace\", and it\'s released beautifully here. Paul Asbell provides the perfect accompaniment.
I met Patti on a train in California & she sent me a copy of this gem. I had to buy one here because the friend I lent my signed copy to is holding it hostage until I give her one of her own!

excellent acoustic CD; great vocals
author: Rhonda Smith
This is a somewhat mellow CD, but it does have variety. Paul A. is a very talented guitarist & Patti C. has a voice and style that do justice to the songs. My favorite tracks are: Georgia, Evenin', I'll Be Seeing You & On a Slow Boat to China. Often, the arrangements involve unexpected rhythmic changes & that's nice.
