Album Notes

"Patty Benson doesn't just sing the blues-she whispers, cries and even belts out the blues. Her vocals ring with confidence and emotion. She's sultry and bold as she spills out her lyrics on each and every song. Benson opens up the CD with, POOR OLE YOU, which is a fun , up-tempo tune, backed up by a solid rhythm section and full horn section featuring, Rusty Smith, Scott Adair and David Wright. She slides into her 2,666 MILES, as bass player Mark VanMourik and drummer Harvey Mitchell drive her words home. BLACK CAT features some sweet tantalizing guitar playing by Roy Roberts. The soft guitar climbs up and down, winds all around Benson's straight-ahead vocals. All DRIED UP, is a classic , slow and sultry blues tune. Robert's guitar leads into Benson's powerful vocals. She starts singing softly and constrained, then slowly builds up with intensity as she finally belts out her powerful, heartfelt blues. Damn sweet. Patty Benson writes some great lyrics, and sings with a style she makes her own. Her band backs her with authority. 2,666 MILES is a great pocket of blues".

"2,666 MILES is a fine set of funky southern soul/blues by another new soul diva on Rock House label. Patty Benson list a few of her influences, but doesn't try to emulate them. She produces a sound that's all her own. Along with the title track, a few of my favorites are HIGH PRICE LOVE, the bluesy I CAN TOO, and the up beat SINGLE BLUES. An auspicious debut from this fine new artist. I'll be looking forward to hearing more from her in the future".

"Though Benson Cites Koko Taylor, Big Momma Thornton, Etta James and Aretha Franklin among her influences, her voice is lighter, smoother than any of theirs".

Blues Artist
author: Turner Foddrell
The best set of Blues from a female artist that I have heard in long while from an independent Label. I downloaded the CD MP3. After seeing her perform. I could not tell if she was backed in the studio by a live session the way that the music production compliments her smooth sexy vocals. The fact that she does not sing with a harsh vocal tone was very pleasing to the ears. The use of live instrumentation in all was impressive for this day and age. I found my foot tapping and fingers snapping to the shuffles. And I didn't mind the length of the Slow blues tunes because she kept my attention with her soft soulful delivery that made it interesting as I listened to her brand her own blues. I'm glad to have added it to my collection.

'Stunning' a World Class Album.
author: Terry K Brit Pack Blues
This CD is Blues, Soulfully Blended with Patty's exquisite vocal melody. There is no fina singer than this woman. It would not be fair to exclude the band behind Patty. They are rich in style, and support Patty with beautifully mastered instrumentation. As a Blues Rocker myself, I must say this is the Best Blues Album this year, by far.
