Album Notes

A California native, Michele Patzakis, has made a strong mark for herself on the national and international opera and concert stage.

She has been lauded, not only for her natural beauty, but also for her beautiful and striking voice and electric stage presence.

A graduate of The University of Southern California (USC), where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree, she also achieved excellence at The New England Conservatory of Music.

There, she received not only a Master of Music Degree, but she also graduated with a Distinction in Performance award.

As a young singer, Ms. Patzakis won or placed highly in regional and national vocal competitions.

She was the winner in the Los Angeles Young Artists of the Future Vocal Competition and one of the national winners in the Loren L.

Zachary Vocal Competition.

She was the district winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and went on to be the second prize winner of their Western Regional Finals.

She was a Regional Finalist with the National Association of Teachers in Singing (NATS) and also received a Victor Fuchs Memorial Award.

She received a three year Merit Scholarship from the New England Conservatory and also a Vocal Fellowship from the Tanglewood Music Center.

This fine artist has already achieved much success in opera and concert appearances.

She has excelled in such major roles as Mimi, Musetta, Pamina, Susanna, Fiordiligi, Cio Cio San and Micaela.

During her career, Ms. Patzakis was managed by Columbia Artists Management (CAMI), the largest classical management firm in the world.

She made her operatic debut with New York City Opera in 1993 and since that auspicious beginning, she has performed many times on both sides of the Atlantic.

This singer has been a house favorite at The Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels and has appeared at both Spoleto Festivals (in the U.S. and in Italy).

She has sung in Austria, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Canada and has performed in the United States in New York, Michigan, Texas, California, Vermont, Oregon, Arizona, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Virginia and on regional tours with New York City Opera.

Singing re-engagements, a sure sign of success, has often been the history of this complete singer/actress.

As a result of her magnetic stage presence, she has often been engaged to sing operettas, which call for the highest level of communication with the audience.
