Put the car on the road, turn up the music, and step on the gas. The road is waiting, even at four bucks a gallon.
A healthy mix of guitars makes this Americana / Roots Rock album a winner. Seattle songwriter Paul Brownlow takes hints from Steve Earle, Joe Strummer, and Robert Earl Keen and blends it with elements of Iggy Pop and the Ramones, drops in strong melody and local sensibility to arrive at this gem. A stunning duet with Portland’s Carrie Cunningham is thrown in for good measure.
Paul has taken the next step from his rock and roll roots with Seattle’s epic band “The Cowboys” and country-bluegrass-punk follower “The Swine.” Come along for the ride. Don’t forget the beer.
