Album Notes

Paul Callicoat has been a performing musician and songwriter in the foothills of the Appalachians in West Virginia for over 40 years. Early influences were his father’s radio and the early songs of Bob Dylan and Peter Paul and Mary. During his formative years Rock and Blues laid their stamp on him and now all of his influences have conjealed on his latest recording. “The Wayward Truth” is a collection of 13 original songs about love, faith, greed, justice, home, family, obsession and pain. Acoustic guitar based, these songs feature stellar playing from ace Tri-State musicians Bud Carroll, Mike Allen, Rudy Rohr, Jay Oakes, Ed Price, Mike Ellis, Bill Jones and Noel Sayre.
“Mama‘s Grave” won song of the month on The Herald Dispatch’s Tri-State Music Scene with the reviewer calling Callicoat an “excellent singer songwriter”. Rudy Panuichi of West Virginia’s Charleston Gazette called the record “ a quiet masterpiece of Americana” , “dignified”, “honest” and “a consistently brilliant album”. The song “Guitar Thieves” was featured on Radio Free Charleston’s webzine and Marshall University’s “UP LATE’ television show. Scott Beatty of Florida’s Gator Broadcasting said “wow” and “I highly recommend it”. Since the records release Callicoat has been featured often on Americana Crossroads Radio WMKY out of Morehead Ky and has performed on the prestigious Americana Crossroads Concert series. If your tastes run from storytelling songs to thought prevoking folk music you should give “The Wayward Truth” a try. As one reviewer put it” A truth well worth seeking”.
