"This is Hannan's first foray into songwriting
and is a natural with witty lyrics and
catchy hooks. He makes it look easy."

-Philip Harris, Pittsburgh Magazine, October, 2002

"...everything from airplay-friendly
folk-pop to edgier Lennonesque blues."

-Ed Masley, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Nov. 20, 2002

"...a debut sure to turn heads in the
local community, and, with a little justice,
much farther afield."

-Justin Hopper, Pittsburgh CityPaper, Nov. 13-20, 2002

"Quirky can be strange, but in Hannan's case, it's good. Solid lyrics and an original voice"

-Rege Behe, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Dec. 8, 2002

Pedal Hard marks the 1st formal release by the promising songwriter/performer Paul Hannan, yet the material reflects the maturity of a more seasoned recording artist. Having spent the last several years performing his music in clubs, as well as providing session work in the studio for others, Paul felt it was time to commit his songs to a more permanent venue for his fans to enjoy.

Produced by the Gathering Field's Dave Brown, the eleven tracks offer a range of styles sure to appeal to just about everyone. Whether your preference is contemporary folk, bluegrass, soft ballad, up tempo, or even jazz, "Pedal Hard" will please.

Paul's lyrics deftly deal with topics of love and death, joy and heartbreak, all interspersed in clean melodies and refreshing arrangements which jump out and grab the you from the first measures of "Love Has Its Own Mind" right through the reprise of "See Your Smile Again."

With a very unique vocal style and a straightup songwriting style, "Pedal Hard" demonstrates the depths of Paul Hannan as both a songwriter and performer.
