Album Notes

The former ballet student and hardcore tequila drinker released her first, self-titled album across Europe in 1999 to critical acclaim. Her music has been described as a blend of 'folking soul' and 'urban campfire blues'. After a break from the live scene, Taylor returned in summer 2005 with a spectacular opening set for Morcheeba at Somerset House. Taylor released the beautiful 'A Simple life' in the same year having just signed a major publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music. She also features on both Dido records, P*NUTs debut album 'Sweet As' (Cheeky Records/BMG, released Sept 2003) and Jason Sparks 'Heroes and Villains' (Botchit and Scarper, released 2004) and has written with ex spicegirl Melanie Chisholm and new artists Kristian Leantiou, OneEskimO, Paolo Nutini, Belle and The Hempolics. Pauline recently signed a record deal with new and exciting indie company Fred-Label and released the album "Up" late 2007 in the UK.

Very few songs grab me these days, but there is something special about 'Up' and some of the other songs on this album. It's not just 'quirkiness', which can often sound contrived, it's beyond that. Some of these songs leave all the tired formulas behind and reach a sublime level where they have a life of their own, where they become unique creations that draw you in and keep you coming back. This is real art, and a music industry that fails to ensure that music like this is broadcast into every home is not doing its job.

I am a big fan of a well produced album or single and this is the best I have heard from Pauline Taylor yet. Very intimate the music never becomes over burdened and meshes well with her voice. The songs are amazing and well at time very nostalgic for me with vibes ranging from the 60's era blues but so clear at times i found my self profoundly touched. She understands and encourages you to join her on the walk of life. Thank you so much Pauline Taylor.
