notes
In an industry torn between artistic merit and commercial success, Paul Lewis' solo debut, Get On With It, is a record that satisfies the demands of both. A sarcastic symphony of pop, the dawn of a post modern renaissance of rock n roll that takes you on a lyrical journey with doses of reality and romanticism, hope filled harmonies and melodies that scream and shout from the soul.
Paul Lewis grew up in Maryland taking voice and guitar lessons, performing wherever and whenever he could. He attended Salisbury State University where he majored in theater. While performing in a production at the college, Paul caught the eye of a founding member of the band "Y-NOT!?" After auditioning, all the pieces were in place and Paul began mesmerizing audiences in his new role as front man to the band.
"YNOT!?" released A Thrilled Voice which catapulted Lewis and the band to the front ranks to the Mid-Atlantic music scene. Eventually to the dismay of a legion of fans, the group parted ways. Paul decided to continue pursuing music by forming the successful "Dead City Radio" and then ultimately decided on a solo career. He said his goodbyes, packed a U-haul and hit the road.
Paul arrived in Los Angeles without a band, money or a job for the first time in his career. Since then, he has never looked back. "Singing and performing" he declares "is what I do, it's who I am, it's in my blood". Paul began to build a devoted following in LA with performances at high profile venues such as The Roxy and The Gig. He kept writing new music while entertaining audiences and found himself continually being asked the question, "How do I get a Paul Lewis record?" One night while playing a gig, the answer walked in the door. Paul became part of the Los Angeles indie label Realize Records and began recording his first solo album.
Lewis shuns the Zoloft-addled ego masturbation that has more or less dominated music shelves over the last decade with Get On With It for a genuine theme of hope and exuberance. The sentiments expressed in such standout tracks as Circles and Alone we bear witness to Paul's indestructible faith in the ability of the human spirit to overcome even the most deeply wounding of personal fears and doubt. "It's about being positive, about moving forward and making the best of everything. I'm very optimistic and that's a great place to be." Paul reveals. This is not to say that the album is a trite collection of happy pop songs, certainly not. Paul's is a voice of hard-won experience, as he demonstrates on tunes such as Welcome to Hollywood, a narcotic evisceration of the shark infested LA entertainment world, and most notably in his observations of the disconnected urban netherworlds that are the dark environs for Elizabeth and the intense roar of Red. As poet, Paul is not shielding us from the uglier aspects of this life, but rather embracing them as necessary pit stops along the road to spiritual evolution.
Paul has performed over 4,000 live shows and the experience has served him well. His live performance has all the ingredients of a true rock show; volume, passion, sex, drama and charisma. A creative and captivating performer that pulls the audience in and doesn't let go.

Most definitely buying this one!
author: Michael WilkinsonI've been pretty out of the loop on Paul for a while now. Knew he was still out there doing his thing which I think is awesome. Always admired your work and stage presence-sounds like you nailed it on this one Paul. Kudos to you and keep up the great song craft. Miike/dB3 www.myspace.com/dividedbythree
A damn fine artist, and a real original
author: Uncle John SawbriarPaul Lewis' indie release, "Get On With It" is very original, very listenable, and completely entertaining. Mixing elements of modern alt-rock, blues and funk, this is one performer that really rocks, but with a soulful groove. Buy this CD, and you won't be disappointed.
This Paul Lewis CD is very good!
author: Randy T.Each song on the CD is very good. With the exception of the hidden track. (It would have been nice to hear a nice remake of the original not a comedy routine). All songs easy to sing along with. Although not easy to match Paul's Vocals. I'm sure I will listen to this CD for a long time. The more I listen the more I like!
The CD is soooooooooooooooo good!
author: AshleeI'm a big music fan and listen to many different groups. Paul's new CD has such an awesome blend of music. Pop, soul, and a lot of rocknroll. It's impossible to not find a song you don't like.
Great CD from a great artist
author: Randy SmithSome recording sound issue, but the music artistry is excellent. Debated 4 or 5 stars, but went to five on Paul's and band's musical effort. Sounds Dave Matthews-esque, but is definitely Paul Lewis first and foremost. Track 21 (yes, there is one, let the CD play) is a treat for fans of Paul's past (a variation of a Y-Not?! song).
Good Stuff
author: SeanLyrical treat...Paul is the consumate musician. Some of the off-axis mic'ing is a little annoying which is why i gave it only 4 stars. Sometimes it sounds like Pauls voice is being set deliberately under the other instruments. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it detracts slightly from the otherwise crystal clarity in Pauls vocals.
"Try" is a my favorite song.
author: Ron GreyThe Cd is definitely enjoyable, and this comes from a very critical person. Lots of songs that you here today have very little soul or sincerity, and although there are tinges? of sarcasm in Get On With It, which particularly I like, the overall Cd comes through very genuine.
Great smooth, flowing Pop Rock
author: Mark ChristensenJust what I would expect from an artist like Paul Lewis. Creative music that is fun to listen to. You have to own this one!
Songs have good grooves and excellent lyrics. Touches my heart.
author: David YoungSongs I like to listen to. Music with a meaning. "Welcome to Hollywood" is very close to that hard life trying to break through and your friends to help you through. "Try" hits relationships and the need to try to succeed. Paul reminds me of Bruce Springsteen and Dave Matthews.
The best CD out there!!!
author: ShannonThis is by far, the best new CD to hit the soundwaves! The music has such depth and meaning. It is awesome.
